Easter: Develop personal relationship with God, Lagos NUJ urges journalists

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Lagos State Council felicitates with all Media professionals and Christian faithful, urging them to develop a personal relationship with God.

This was contained in a media message jointly signed by the union Chairman, Dr. Qasim Akinreti and the Secretary, Comrade Alfred Odifa.

The council leaders enjoined members to always emulate Christ’s virtues of steadfastness, patience, selflessness and good neighbourliness which were among the several lessons taught by Jesus Christ.

Dr. Akinreti said “The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ signifies the end of the fall of man and the beginning of the redemption of humanity”

“The suffering, humiliation and death of Christ on the cross of calvary were to liberate us from the power of sin, satan and death”. The NUJ Chairman and the Secretary noted.

According to the NUJ Lagos Council Leadership, though the celebrations are subdued by the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, the Union is grateful to Almighty God that we’re counted among the living!

Surely, the forty days of fasting and prayers are symbolic, especially at this critical period of our existence.

The Union enjoins Christians to put their faith in God and pray fervently to enable Nigeria to overcome the Coronavirus pandemic.

As we celebrate the Easter, let us continue to observe the social distancing and other measures of COVID-19 pandemic religiously, Akinreti advised.

Lagos NUJ also wishes all members a hitch-free Easter celebration.
