President of Journalists For Christ (JFC), Mr. Lekan Otufodunrin has called on journalists with rich libraries to make their books accessible to interested persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Otufodunrin\nmade the call at the monthly fellowship of the organisation with the theme\n\u2018Ministry of Writing\u2019 held at the CEE-HOPE Conference Hall, Ogba, Lagos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According\nto him, many people have rich libraries locked away in their homes without\npeople benefiting from the books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\nfind that many people lock their books up in personal libraries away from those\nwho should benefit from the contents,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nerstwhile online editor at the Nation Newspaper however advised journalists to\nendeavour to bring out their books so that people can read them and utilize the\nrich resources in them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fellowship was aimed at inspiring new generations of Christian writers and participants took turns to share their experiences on books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nbook, \u2018African Writers\u2019 written by 11 other African journalists including\nOtufodunrin and published by Media Associates International (MAI) was the focus\nof the fellowship from which lessons were taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\n11 authors are from Kenya, Cameroon, Nigeria, Cote d\u2019Ivoire, Burkina Faso,\nAngola, Uganda, South Africa who wrote about how they pursued God\u2019s calling and\nthe challenges to publish works to inspire generations to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One\nof the authors, Jennifer Karina, a psychologist, certified professional coach,\nenergy leadership master practitioner, speaker, author and a born-again\nChristian who engages her audience with passion and uplifting the lives of\nothers talked about how she embarked on her writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nKenyan also stated how she pursued various professional courses that have\nhelped towards her personal growth and development. She further stated that she\nuses her brand to sign off in her correspondence to market her books and it\ngives her an opportunity to preach the gospel of marriage and relationships as\nGod intended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Still talking about the book,\nOtufodunrin said, \u201cIn the book, African writers wrote to tell how they pursued\nGod\u2019s calling. They persevered through hardship to create published works that\nwill speak to readers for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also said that the September\nfellowship was meant to remind the church about writing good content because\nbook contents can also lead people to Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPeople want their life to get\nbetter spiritually, physically and professionally, they must hear words that\ncan inspire them,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Otufodunrin\nhowever encouraged journalists to impact lives with their stories. \u201cWriting is\na calling, a ministry and a business. Journalists whose libraries are rich\nshould start freeing their books to impart lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWriting is a calling because\nyou don\u2019t know who is going to read you. You don\u2019t know who is going to get\ninspired by your writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSome people could read our\nstories and their life would change. We may not know but God will record it in\nour account. Let us thank God for the gift of writing,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Journalists took turns to speak on the theme and shared their experiences on books and publishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
