In a LinkedIn post, a news anchor and on-air personality Hakimah Dada wrote about how she copes with the challenging nature of journalism.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are moments in journalism when I feel like quitting. The pressure is real\u2014chasing headlines, staying current, meeting deadlines, and still delivering stories accurately, smoothly, and responsibly.<\/p>\n

“But by the time that thought comes up, I remember why I chose this path in the first place: the passion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dada\u2019s experience is similar to that of many journalists. While some stay on for the love of the job and the humanity it serves, others choose to step away.<\/p>\n

For Christian journalists, however, our coping mechanisms should be anchored even more firmly in fulfilling God\u2019s call and purpose for our lives.<\/p>\n

No matter what we face in the profession, we should keep in mind Paul\u2019s admonition in 1 Thessalonians 5:24: \u201cThe one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paul wrote this letter to the new Christians in Thessalonica who needed encouragement as they faced persecution and the temptations of their pagan culture.<\/p>\n

Like the Thessalonians, journalists can be assured that when they become overwhelmed by the demands of the job, God\u2014who called them into the profession\u2014can be trusted to see them through.<\/p>\n

As the Secretary of the African Christian Journalists Network, George Stewart, also advised in a Facebook post, referencing Psalm 121:1\u20132: \u201cWhen you feel drained, do what David did: lift your eyes up\u2014not inward, not around. Strength doesn\u2019t come from the noise, the pressure, or people; it comes from God.”<\/p>\n

“He doesn\u2019t sleep. He doesn\u2019t miss a moment. And He doesn\u2019t run out of power when you do.\u201d<\/p>\n

In our various editorial assignments, may God Himself\u2014the God of peace, as Paul prayed\u2014sanctify you through and through.<\/p>\n

\u201cMay your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n
