Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
Daniel 6:3

What does it mean to be excellent?

The biblical meaning of Excellence/Excellent according to Strong’s concordance includes being distinguished, surpassing and most noble.

Excellent is something that excels, goes beyond, predominates according to Pastor Ed and Patty in their devotional titled “You are distinguished and have a spirit of excellence.”

According to the scripture above, Daniel was preferred above presidents and princes because an excellent spirit was in him and it was obvious to the King.

In our various media jobs, there is the temptation to just want to do the normal things expected of us, especially when our conditions of service are not as good as we want.

Some of us don’t feel obligated to go the extra mile in our tasks and be excellent in what we do.

In whatever work situation we find ourselves, it’s necessary to have an excellent spirit that will stand us out for what we deserve.

We must constantly pray that the Lord will grant us an excellent and discerning spirit in our thoughts and deeds.

No task should be approached with the mind of just doing the basic requirements but the best shot.

We must have a desire to be the best in what we do and trust the almighty God to bless our endeavours and mark us out for the favours we deserve.

This week, I pray that the Lord will grant you the grace to be an excellent journalist and media professional whose work will glorify his name.

Have a good week.
